About Me

My photo
Welcome to my blog for BIM100! My name is Colleen Bowes and I am currently a student at Pennsylvania College of Technology at Williamsport, PA. My major is Interactive Media and Web Design. We learn to integrate skills in web design, social networking, and so forth. Before I came to Penn College, I was a student at Upper Merion High School. I played soccer all four years there and my position is goalie. In school, I took mostly all art classes and a couple technology classes. I took some basic coding so I have a good background of general HTML and some CSS. For art, I can paint, sculpt, draw any medium. After learning that the art field for a career is looking glum, I decided to put that into technology, which is a growing field. With that decision in mind, I obtained a dream, and that dream is to work in Disney Studios. I have loved Disney ever since I was a child and just knowing that going into this major, I could one day, achieve that dream. For my regular lifestyle though, you could say I am a quite unique woman. I love playing video games, watching anime, playing soccer, watch a ton of movies, but also love being in the outdoors as well.

Expectations for BIM100

I expect to learn from this class is to use social networking to my full advantage. Like making money through blogger and what not. I want to use whatever I learned in class, to its fullest potential.

Summarize Traffic Before (10/29/13)

I'd say for having my post up not that long, I got a considerable amount of views. Though, the day I checked it, I only gotten one that day. But the day before the 29th of October, I had 6 views. Which is somewhat better. Then the page views I had the month before were 53 and overall in all my page views before October 29, I got 173 views. I posted it on Facebook and Twitter, so maybe by doing that, I got more views.

Summarize Traffic After (11/19/13)

After having my post up for a while, I'd say my numbers went up a considerable amount. Again, when I viewed it on the 19th of November, I only got one view. Zero views the day before the 19th but the month before I got 89 views. Overall, I got 234 views. I got mostly all of mine in the USA, and 1 from Russia, Germany and Thailand. Which, I believe, is pretty neat. Of course, the Worlds Largest Gummy Worm is the most viewed page of all time.

Here is a table of the info:

Explain the what you did cross post

I posted on Twitter and Facebook. I do not own any other social media website. I also shared my sisters, Kristen's, post as well for her page. I do own an Instagram but I completely forgot to put it on there (My bad). Of course, if I had more accounts, I would definitely have posted on every account.

Discuss if/how cross posting increased your traffic

When I posted on Facebook, of course Kristen and I shared each others pages, but since I have more than 1000 friends on Facebook (I probably don't know more than half), by posting it, I gave my self a better chance of views to come by on my blog. My family and friends shared my post which helped me out very much.

Here is a picture of my sharing Kristen's post, with a touch of humor.

Here is a picture of me posting my own page.

I may not have gotten many shares but that doesn't mean people have not seen it. Whatever I pos, everyone sees and at least takes a glimpse at it. Though I do wish I have gotten way more views that what the result was. By doing this, it was a learning experience of what the people, on the internet actually want to see.

To end it off, here is a picture of my stats.
